LUXT is a Sacramento, California-based band, formed by Anna Christine and Erie Loch in 1996. LUXT describes their sound as "Cyber Voodoo Rock". The best explanation of this comes directly from Erie who said, "Cyber as in the mixing of machines, or in our case, electronic instruments and human elements. Voodoo as in mischief, or something a bit dark or dangerous without taking itself too seriously. And Rock because we use heavy guitars but don't cling to a 'metal purist' ideal or claim to be part of a certain genre, but rather choose to use a looser term and let the actual heaviness of the music speak for itself. We got sick of people trying to force us in to one particular 'box' and labeling us as 'industrial' or 'metal' etc. So we figured we'd come up with our own name for our sound. One that showed we had a sense of humor as well as a taste for the ugly." That said, LUXT does cling to one ethic in their music, and that is to not limit themselves. LUXT has become a true hybrid of too many different styles to count. Assimilating what they feel works, and finding a place for it all. LUXT has continually shredded stigmas of the average female-fronted rock band. In the man's world of rock 'n roll, Anna doesn't see fronting a band as a blessing or a curse but rather just a simple fact of life, and she isn't satisfied proving she can not only compete, but surpass and excel. With the wide sound pallet or electronics, conventional instruments, male and female lead vocals and a band full of people with extremely diverse tastes and experience, LUXT is carving out their own path and loving every second of it.
